This project adds two storeys to a detached Victorian house in Southwark, nearly doubling its size.
The extension uses off-site timber fabrication to reduce waste, shorten construction time and improve thermal performance. Cantilevered from the existing brick walls, the new structure avoids plastic, structural steel and concrete.
Double-height spaces, carefully positioned windows and a lightweight timber frame create a low-carbon extension with generous light and volume.
